Research Lines

The i3 group is an interdisciplinary research team at the Bruno Kessler Foundation - FBK whose scientific focus is on technologiesthat facilitate human communication and human-computer interaction. We have a strong committment toward user-centred methodologies and we pursue a demo-or-die approach where technologies are used to carry out user studies and as proof of concepts. The background of the researchers in the group spans from computer science and engineering to experimental psychology and sociology.

We carry out research projects in computer science in the following fields:

Automatic Behavioral Analysis

Shared Co-located Interfaces

User-Centered Design

We collaborate with a number of research institutions around the world. Recently we co-authored research papers with researchers from the The Caesarea Edmond Benjamin de Rothschild Foundation Institute for Interdisciplinary Applications of Computer Science (CRI) at the Haifa University and the CHIMe Lab at Stanford. We have been involved in several research projects funded by the European Commission such as CHIL, Humaine and more recently NetCarity as well as in some research projects funded by the Autonomous Province of Trento, such as PEACH.
